Emma Louise Hodge papers, 1867-1917 [manuscript].

Diaries, 1867 and 1868, and photographs of Emma L. Hodge. The diaries span her last year of high school when she lived with an aunt in an unspecified location. It recounts visits to her parents and her courtship and eventual marriage to Charlie Sheldon. The daily entries describe social events, daily chores, family traditions, and the health of various family members and friends. Also included is a photograph album, which was annotated by its owner and chiefly contains photographs of family, friends, and students at Elon College, Salem College, and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, 1916-1917. Also included are 25 unidentified loose photographs. The connection between Hodge and the photographs is unclear.
